Here are some reviews of Enter Twilight EP. The selection below is only from the foreign press. The Norwegian reviews can be found here: Norwegian reviews

LUNA KAFÉ (US):    From out of nowhere (sorry, Holmestrand, don't mean to say your little town is nowhere...) - well, at least for my ears, come Magic Pillows. Magic Pillows. Mmmm, sounds like settling for a delicious night's sleep with sweet dreams and all that follows. Midway through song 1 of this EP I was stunned and lost in its beauty. Because this is amazing. I don't know why, but I've become a big fan in a short time... (read more)

DREAM MAGAZINE (US):    This quartet from Holmestrand, Norway are one of the most wonderful things out of this musically fertile country that I've heard yet; and that's really saying something. Only 5 songs in 21 minutes; but they do a lot in a little time, with a haunting grace all their own. Featuring a fantastic female vocalist in Camilla Bruerberg who also provides keyboards, and a male vocalist named Frode Helberg, on guitars, zither, glockenspiel, percussion, samples, and sound effects; and he also writes all the songs. He has a remarkable voice; high, reedy and he can wail with it like a man possessed. Musically you can't escape the landscape of cool distant spaciousness, the contrasts of the instruments playing off of one another in a warm symbiotic harmony. Dramatic psychedelic folk rock, with an almost country feel underneath it all. Ambitious enough to be art rock, but warm and extremely accessible with a sound like Roy Orbison without the stratospheric upper register, but more swooningly ecstatic than sad Roy usually sounded. These aren't songs of loss; they're songs of a new dawn, or at the very least a warm twilight's last gleaming afterglow. Only 1000 of these were made, a full length release will follow, with none of the songs here appearing on it.  (NOTE: The Dream Magazine, located in Nevada, USA, is only available in paper edition. Magic Pillows have also been interviewed here. For more info on the magazine, visit their homepage at http://www.dreamgeo.com)

Dem fem låtarna imponerar...(read more)

OPUSZINE (US):    Every so often, it seems like the musical press latches onto one particular geographic region that seems to be bursting with new and previously untapped talent. Last year, it was Iceland, with critical darlings Sigur Rós leading the charge. As of late, it seems like a lot of focus has switched over to Norway, with groups ranging from Kings Of Convenience to Röyksopp getting press. Hopefully, as the music press' gaze shifts to this country, a group like Magic Pillows will get their fair share of attention, as well as their small label, Osito...(read more)

SPLENDID MAGAZINE.COM:    Magic Pillows are a Norwegian four-piece who play some really interesting pop-rock with folky overtones. At center stage are the songs and vocals of Frode Helberg, who sings in an extremely melodramatic style that is somewhat reminiscent of Jeff Buckley mixed with...Frank Sinatra. But Norwegian. And with a nagging little hint of Lou Reed around the edges...(read more)

Zwijg , luister en huiver...(read more)
