SYNOPSIS
The band MAGIC PILLOWS consists of the members (left to right) Francesco Hygen Puddu, Camilla Bruerberg, Frode Helberg, Susanna Calvert and Henning Eidem.
FRODE – songwriter. Guitarist, accordionist, lead vocalist, percussions and other.
CAMILLA – pianist, keyboardist, vocalist. Songwriter.
FRANCESCO – electric and acoustic upright bass, Chapman Stick, electric bass guitar, backing vocals.
SUSANNA - electric guitars/soundscapes.
HENNING - drums, percussion.
Listening to Magic Pillows is equivalent to entering a world of longings and dreams, bittersweet romances or loss of love. Doubt or faith, hope or despair, darkness, comedy or absurdity. The Magic Pillows music wants to harmonize and become a part of you.
The band was originally formed in Holmestrand, Norway during September 1999. In November that year they recorded a 6-track demo which was sent sporadically to radio stations and concert scenes, but it didn’t gain much response. In August 2000 they had their first live performance at Glenghuset, Sarpsborg, Norway.
Ten months later, during the annual music festival in their hometown Holmestrand in June 2001, the band played in front of an enthusiastic home audience, this time with new material. Confident and full of inspiration they went on to record their first album, the 5-track “Enter Twilight EP”. And no doubt this is a promising debut. The songs on this EP are acoustically based, melodious, semi-psychedelic folk rock songs. “Enter Twilight EP” is capable of combining classical folk music and modern psychedelic pop. The EP was released on the small Norwegian label OSITO Records in 2002.
The record has received many very good reviews, both from the domestic and the international press. Among others, Dream Magazine (USA) writes: This quartet from Holmestrand, Norway are one of the most wonderful things out of this musically fertile country that I've heard yet… More of these reviews can be read here: Reviews. During the years 2001-2004, the band performed concerts at various stages in Oslo, like Blĺ, Skuret Kulturpub, Café Mono and Gamla, and in 2003 they performed at the annual Norwegian music branch festival By:larm in Trondheim.
Magic Pillows are currently working on their forthcoming debut full-length album, which is up and coming! Therefore, they have spent the last 1 ˝ years outside the stage, using all their creative energy in the studio to complete a very ambitious first album record.
